◉ Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
■ Purpose: To support laboratory operation such as sample tracking, test results reporting to improve workflow at Forensic Science laboratory.
■ Modules: LIMS is comprised of three modules: Sample Management, Analysis, and Management. Each module has three to five submodules.
● Sample management
○ Registration submodule supports registration of new samples and prepare them for analysis.
○ Plate submodule creates aliquots and allocates them to the plate map for testing.
○ Barcodes submodule prints barcode for sample to allow for effective sample tracking.
○ Instrument submodule allocates samples to instrument to automate analysis.
○ Storage submodule creates boxes for storing samples and manages freeze and thaw samples.
● Analysis
○ Worksheet submodule supports test order entering and provides a summary information on analysis.
○ Results submodule supports test results entering and sends them to worksheet, templates, and document management for reporting.
○ Templates submodule creates templates and enters the test results to templates.
● Management
○ Dashboard submodule provides monthly statistics on samples received, analysis performed, and turn-around time (TAT) by tables and graphics to monitor a performance of each laboratory.
○ Reports submodule provides daily and monthly reports for five test statistics (biochemistry, microbiology, DNA, pathology, and toxicology) to help monitor a performance of each laboratory.
○ Supply management submodule provides a list of medical supplies and inventory statistics on the supply items (expiring this week, items to order, and purchased items) for effective inventory management.
○ Quality control submodule supports quality control activities for testing and instruments to improve quality of analysis and reporting.
○ Document management submodule supports communication (e.g., receiving orders and sending the test results) between LIMS and document requesting departments (laboratories, policy, court, media, etc.) and storing them to the database for archiving and record-keeping.
■ Language: English, Mongolian
