○ Electronic Medical Record (EMR) module is a digital version of medical record. It is developed based on the SOAP (subjective, objective, assessment, and plan) framework which is widely used in the United States. Since SOAP is a structured tool, it captures key clinical issues and is easier to communicate with others by using the standardized clinical terminologies and contents. Subjective section was developed to meet a different clinical requirement of various departments on chief complaints and symptoms for patients. Objective section captures patient’s physical exam and test results. Based on this information, doctor enters the final diagnosis into the assessment section, and therapeutic plan to the plan section.
○ Doctor enters 14 types of medical orders to the Computerized Provide Order Entry (CPOE) module. CPOE also allows for the repeat order function to reuse the previous orders to speed up the order entering process. CPOE helps improve information flow between clinical departments and the supporting departments (e.g., laboratory, radiology, etc.). This results in reducing waiting time and length of hospital stay.
○ Electronic Nursing Record (ENR) is comprised of 20 submodules covering most of nursing activities to reduce paper-works for nurses and improve quality of nursing documentation at nursing station and ICU.
○ Surgery module is comprised of four submodules (surgery order registration, surgery scheduling, surgery note, and anesthesia note) to support the surgery activities for surgeons and surgery nurses. It also provides the key legal documents for legal suit in case of medical accidents.
○ Emergency module provides patient list, progress notes, and electronic nursing records at emergency room.
○ Document management provides and stores key medical documents such as consent form, EMR, Kardex from ENR, lab test results, radiology test results, and emergency progress notes for easy access to these documents.
○ All medical modules use international standard terminologies such as ICD10 and ICD11 for diagnosis, LOINC for lab test code, ICD10 PCS for radiology test code, NANDA for nursing diagnosis, and FDA drug code to improve an interoperability with other hospitals.
● Medical support systems:
○ Laboratory test module supports test registration, barcode and instrument management, entering test results (chemistry, microbiology, pathology), and quality control to reduce lab test data entering and communication time. Accordingly, it helps improve quality of tests and improve productivity of lab technicians.
○ Radiology test module supports test registration, exam room reservation, and test results to reduce radiology test processing and communication time.
○ Pharmacy module supports dispensing drugs according to the doctor’s prescription order. This module includes DUR (drug utilization review) function to review drug orders by using the DUR criteria developed by HIRA (Health Insurance Review Agency) in Korea to prevent medication errors.
○ Nutrition module provides a menu selection by patient types (diabetes, children, pregnant, surgery, etc.) according to the diet orders to improve effectiveness in menu selection and meal preparation.
○ Blood management module provides information on incoming blood, outgoing blood, and discard blood to maintain a safe supply of blood. In addition, it provides the result of crossmatch test before transfusion. This module helps improving effectiveness in blood transfusion, crossmatch test, and inventory management of blood.
○ Hospital infection management module collects infection information from the high-risk areas such as ICU, surgery room, and quarantine area to improve effectiveness in infection management and quality of infectious disease statistics.
● Management systems:
○ Patient management module supports registration, reservation, and cashier for outpatients, and admission, discharge, and bed management for inpatients.
○ Customer Relations Management (CRM) module sends the reminder notice for outpatient and inpatient appointments, test appointments, surgery appointments by SMS and email to prevent no-show and improve patient service.
○ Supply Chain Management (SCM) module provides inventory information such as incoming and outgoing medical supplies to maintain the safety-stock and provide inventory expenses to the accounting module.
○ Accounting module supports the accounting data entry and provides accounting reports such as general ledger, daily table, monthly table, trial balance, and financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement).
○ Executive Information System (EIS) provides the key performance indicators (KPI) on patient statistics, test statistics, and revenue statistics using the dashboard to help managers monitor hospital performance. In addition, EIS provides monthly statistics on notifiable infectious disease (NID) to managers and government.
